Shortest Speech by the CEO of Coca Cola.

Disclaimer: I dont know if this is really the CEO of Coca Cola as he looks to thin, but the message is clear enough. Life is too short to be spent at work. There is a balance for everything and I am making a move to find it.

Being said by a CEO doesn't mean it's true. Tell that to the people who have lost their jobs and aren't able to find a new one. tell that to the desperate who hold on to their jobs to keep their families alive. A CEO can say that because with the amount of money he makes, he has time to find a new job if ever he loses what he has at the present. There are many people who depend on their jobs for their everyday survival. I say, keep everything balanced, one's desire to give their families a better life makes them want to keep their jobs. Everything is tied together. If the string breaks, everything will fall apart if you're not fast enough in tying things back together.

You're right. I am far from balancing all my priorities. I tend to give too much time to work. Then I was sent to Nigeria for work. After spending 10 months there, my perspective on life has changed. I am now back home in Malaysia and I am proud to say that despite my financial condition being the same as before I left for Nigeria, I am not spending more time with my parents and wife than I did before. Seeing people die on the streets had a significant impact on me. I have never seen people so poor before. I am not rich myself, but I am not poor either. But after seeing how people live close to death, I am learning to be glad about what I have.
Thanks for your kind opinion.

utter nonesense. what he is trying to say is that when everything is in the air you need to prioritize. you need to save something from falling. he does not need to say we need to balance everything because as mature human beings we are expected to balance everything around us. do you remember when parents or spouses say "I am doing this (work) because of you." And can you remember what happens to their kids/spouses after? Yes he is a CEO, and CEOs think deeper... that is why he is a CEO and we are not...

for me the speech is still correct.
i'm from a poor country with a poor economy, from a poor family. we know the value of our job, it's our life, our source of income to feed the family and to survive. the context of the speech is not about the impact of losing a job but to remind us that among Work, Family, Health, Friends and Spirit. work should not be the one on the top.

Thanks.

Not everyone learns this lesson early enough in life. Everyone works so hard to save money, in the end, they spend the money they save for their medical bills. They end up losing their wealth and health.

It's difficult when we're poor in a poor country where everyone is expected to work harder. Just do your best with what you have, always remembering to take some time off with your family and to relax yourself.
