You're on vacation in France. You lean over the reflecting pool in the Versailles garden, and plop! Your cellphone lands in the water.
Don't fret. You may be able to save water-logged electronics with this simple trick: Before you test your phone, camera, or PDA to see if it's all right, stick it in a bag of rice and let the rice draw the water out overnight. If the device doesn't work in the morning, the damage is done. But there's a good chance the rice will do the trick.
