Free Powerful Dynamic Mathematical Solver

GeoGebra

If you love mathematics, then you will love GeoGebra! GeoGebra is a dynamic mathematics software for schools that joins geometry, algebra and calculus.

GeoGebra is an interactive geometry system. You can do constructions with points, vectors, segments, lines, conic sections as well as functions and change them dynamically afterwards. Also, equations and coordinates can be entered directly. GeoGebra has the ability to deal with variables for numbers, vectors and points, finds derivatives and integrals of functions and offers commands like Root or Extremum.

There's two ways to use GeoGebra. You can either use the web interface, which works off a Java applet or you can download the software to your desktop. I used the Jawa web interface and it was very fast.

So, if you have young children learning trigonometry and would like to visualize their equations, give GeoGebra a try.

Tottteham Hotspurs Jibes....

Haringey council has blocked Tottenham's plans to build a new ground on Northumberland Park. A town hall source said: "We don't mind having a funfair there once a year, but a circus every fortnight is a bit much."

"I was playing Scrabble and had enough letters to make 'Tottenham Hotspur Football Club'. I was gutted when I found out it was only worth two points."

Tesco are releasing new Oxo cubes in Spurs colours. Customers are told to look out for laughing stocks.

What do a toothpick and Tottenham have in common? They both have two points

Juande Ramos, shortly after another training session, comments to the head groundsman at White Hart Lane how impressive the pitch is looking. "It ought to," replies the groundsman. "We put 70 million quid's worth of manure on it every week."

I just went down to the newsagents and bought Tottenham Hotspur magazine. Thank goodness they had porn mags to hide it in.

What does a Spurs fan do after he sees his team win? Turns off the Xbox

After leaving San Siro, Jose Mourinho was asked if he was going to help Spurs get out of their slump. He turned around and said, "No way, I ain't that special".

Apparently the entire Tottenham squad have been busy honing their skills playing the computer game Championship Manager. Sadly it seems Juande misunderstood and thinks they want to play for a Championship manager.

Contrary to what you may think, Spurs are the strongest team in the league at the moment. Sure, aren't they holding everyone else up?

What do the Premier League and a cowboy have in common? They both have spurs at their feet.

A man was found dead floating in the Thames, wearing a blond wig, full make-up, bra, knickers, suspenders and a Spurs shirt. Before informing the next of kin the police removed the Spurs shirt to save the family embarrassment.

What would an improved version of Spurs be called? Newcastle United.

Did you hear that Juande Ramos was clocked doing 169mph on the M1 coming back from Stoke? Apparently he was just so desperate for three points.

Is it just me or are Spurs the team to beat this season? Everyone's at it.

A man is sitting in a pub with his jack russell dog one Sunday afternoon. The football results are coming up on the television in the corner: "Stoke City 2, Tottenham Hotspur 1," reads the announcer. Suddenly the jack russell jumps up and shouts out, "Oh, no, not again." The shocked landlord says, "That's amazing. Why did he say that when it was announced that Tottenham lost?" "Because he's a Spurs supporter," the dog's owner replies. The landlord then asks what the dog says when Tottenham win a match, to which the man replies, "I don't know. I've only had him six months."

When a groggy Vedran Corluka regained consciousness in the ambulance leaving the Britannia Stadium on Sunday he asked medical staff who he was. On being told he played football for Tottenham Hotspur he lapsed into a coma.

All trains through White Hart Lane have been cancelled due to a massive points failure.

What's the difference between Juande Ramos and a cowboy? A cowboy wears Spurs on his boots whereas Ramos is a crap manager.

What does THFC stand for? Tottenham Heading For the Championship.

A little boy gets £10 for his birthday and rushes down to the sports shop to buy the new football he has been desperate for. He gives the ball to the shopkeeper, who says, "Sorry, son, this ball is £20. You only have £10". The boy says, "OK, if you blindfold me and I can guess the name of the club on any ball, will you give it to me for £10?" He agrees and gives the boy an Arsenal ball. "I can hear cannons blasting, so it's an Arsenal ball." Next he gives him a Millwall ball: "I hear lions, so it's Millwall." Amazed, the shopkeeper says, "Get this and you can have it for nothing." The boy listens and says Spurs. The man asks if he's heard a cockerel. "No," says the boy. "It's going down."

What's the difference between Bigfoot and the Spurs defence? Bigfoot has been spotted several times.

Spurs have been forced to rename their ground "White Lane" because their "Hart" was surgically removed when Berbatov and Keane were sold

How To Achieve Peace of Mind

Let not your hearts be troubled!

Peace of mind rarely comes from getting more stuff.
Getting more stuff usually leads to wanting even more stuff!
Peace of mind starts with being grateful for what we have right now.

GRATITUDE is POWER
When we are thankful for what we have - for the friends we have, and for the things we've got, we attract more good people and good things!
People who always complain about what they DON'T HAVE, stay stuck.
Complainers attract more things to complain about!
It is a law of life. It's hard to explain, but you can observe it around you.
We get more of what we dwell upon.

That's why all the spiritual masters have taught the same lesson ..
'Start by being thankful. Be happy with what you have now, and more will come your way.'

It's practical advice.
Every time you say a silent 'thank you' you become more peaceful – and more power. ...Keep Sharing :-)......... .......

The Miracle of Personal Development

by Jim Rohn

One day Mr. Shoaff said, "Jim, if you want to be wealthy and happy, learn this lesson well: Learn to work harder on yourself than you do on your job."

Since that time I've been working on my own personal development. And I must admit that this has been the most challenging assignment of all. This business of personal development lasts a lifetime.

You see, what you become is far more important than what you get. The important question to ask on the job is not, "What am I getting?" Instead, you should ask, "What am I becoming?" Getting and becoming are like Siamese twins: What you become directly influences what you get. Think of it this way: Most of what you have today you have attracted by becoming the person you are today.

I've also found that income rarely exceeds personal development. Sometimes income takes a lucky jump, but unless you learn to handle the responsibilities that come with it, it will usually shrink back to the amount you can handle.

If someone hands you a million dollars, you'd better hurry up and become a millionaire. A very rich man once said, "If you took all the money in the world and divided it equally among everybody, it would soon be back in the same pockets it was before."

It is hard to keep that which has not been obtained through personal development

So here's the great axiom of life:

--To Have More Than You´ve Got, Become More Than You Are--

This is where you should focus most of your attention. Otherwise, you just might have to contend with the axiom of not changing, which is:

--Unless You Change How You Are, You´ll Always Have What You´ve Got--

5 Keys to Great Sex

1. Have a sense of humor. Laughing together and not taking yourselves so seriously are invaluable. Sex will be funny and full of mishaps and playfulness.

2. Communicate. Assertively express your needs and feelings, and truly listen to each other. No topic should be off-limits.

3. Forgive. Let each other make mistakes; let go of resentment and hurts. Cut each other slack as you work through tough areas and focus on positive solutions.

4. Be flexible. No, not that way! Break out of routines and let go of your need always to be in control. You'll enjoy yourself more if you go with the flow and are able to adapt.

5. Be uninhibited. Becoming truly "naked and unashamed" is a powerful aphrodisiac. Lovers can revel in sensuality and plan surprises for each other. God gave each of us unusual creativity, and in romance we can use that to connect intimately with our mate.

Why Men Can Only Do One Thing at a Time!

All the available research agrees: men's brains are specialised. Compartmentalised. A male brain is configured to concentrate on one specific, dedicated task at once and most men will tell you they can only do 'one thing at a time'. When a man stops his car to read a street directory, what's the first thing he does with his radio? He turns it down! Most women can't understand why this happens. She can read while listening and talking so why can't he? Why does he insist on turning down the TV when the telephone rings? 'When he's reading the newspaper or watching TV, why can't he hear what I've just told him?' is a lament that has been made by every woman in the world at some time. The answer is that a man's brain is configured for one thing at a time because of fewer connecting fibres between the left and right hemispheres, and a more compartmentalised brain. Take a brain scan of his head when he's reading, and you'll find he is virtually deaf.

A woman's brain is configured for multi-tasking performance. She can do several unrelated things at the same time, and her brain is never disengaged, it's always active. She can talk on a telephone, at the same time as cooking a new recipe and watching television. Or she can drive a car, put on make-up and listen to the radio while talking on a hands-free telephone. But if a man is cooking a recipe and you talk to him, he is likely to become angry because he can't follow the written instructions and listen at the same time. If a man is shaving and you talk to him he'll cut himself. Most women will have had the experience of being accused by a man of making him miss a turn-off on the highway because she was chatting to him at the time. One woman told us that if she is angry with her husband, she talks to him while he is hammering a nail!

Because women use both sides of their brains, many find it more difficult to tell their left hand from their right. Around 50% of women cannot instantly recognise which is which, without looking for a ring or a freckle first. Men, on the other hand, operating in either the left or right brain, find it much easier to identify left from right. As a result, women all over the world everywhere are criticised by men for telling them to turn right - when they really meant left.

Banking Woes Spread Futher...

Following the problems in the sub-prime lending market in America and the run on Northern Rock Building Society in the UK ,  uncertainty has now hit Japan.

In the last 7 days Origami Bank has folded, Sumo Bank has  gone belly up and Bonsai Bank announced plans to cut some of its branches.

Yesterday, it was announced that Karaoke Bank is up for sale and will likely go for a song, while today shares in Kamikaze Bank were  suspended after they nose- dived.

Furthermore, 500 staff at Karate Bank got the chop and  analysts report that there is something fishy going on at Sushi Bank where it is feared that staff may get a raw deal

Authenticity and Originality

Written by Michael Angier

I have a theory as to why REAL political leaders seem in such short supply.

Politicians have at their disposal an abundance of opinion polls. Instead of someone who aspires to high office speaking his or her own mind, they speak what they think is the mind of the voters. They want to be sure that what they have to offer is politically popular or at least not politically unpopular.

In days of old, there were no speechwriters—our leaders wrote their own. You could pretty much count on what someone was saying as being their own beliefs. Now, you never know if what a speaker is saying is their own or some clever words crafted by a witty speechwriter.

It's extremely rare to find someone willing to share his or her own thoughts or who has much to offer in the way of original thinking. Most of today's so-called leaders lack authenticity, and people sense it.

Winston Churchill once said, "The people cannot look up to a leader who has his ear to the ground". Leaders by definition should LEAD not follow.

Originality and individuality are two of the hallmarks of true leadership. I don't have to agree with someone in order to respect them as a leader. If they feel strongly about something and I get that they truly believe in what they're saying, I'll at least listen intently and consider seriously what they have to say.

When someone's telling the truth—speaking from the heart with strong feeling—it's almost impossible to be bored.

There's a Bible phrase that I've found easy to remember: "Be hot or cold, but if you be lukewarm, I will spew thee out of my mouth."

Strong words, indeed. What I get from it is, be one way or the other. Being middle-of-the-road doesn't work. The guy who gets my attention is the one who feels strongly about something. The one who has an original approach has the makings of a leader.

When we mouth the words of someone else or speak what we think others want to hear, we relinquish our power. We just add more noise to the world. When we speak from the heart with strong feeling and our own thinking, we stand out from the crowd.

Think of the art world. Which has more value, the original painting or the reproduction? The original, of course.

Reproductions don't even come close to equaling the value of the original. There can only be one original painting and there is only one original you. It's up to each of us to uncover and develop our originality and uniqueness. In doing so, we have more to offer.

Our society tends to promote sameness and commonness. Our schools do their best to make us conform and become more and more like the others. The free spirit is often ostracized. Our employers and our coworkers don't encourage our being different. Often, our attempt to be humble actually thwarts our specialness. And yet almost everything in us cries out to be different and special.

The word "original" comes from the root word origin. And origin is the thing from which anything comes, the starting point or source. Thus, cultivating our originality is only a matter of going back to whence we came—our spirit or God-force.

We may all come from the same source, but we all express our originality in different ways. It's up to us to discover our own uniqueness, or own inner splendor. Only in doing so will we actualize our true potential and affect our purpose in the world.

Why Does a AAA business Suddenly Fail? The Lehman Brothers case.

Recent developments in the international financial arena show how conventional risk rating and risk management tools and techniques prove inefficient in a highly turbulent and globalized economy. Sudden default of AAA companies is a fact which has been observed on more than one occasion in the past few months. The cause of these failures may be attributed to a substantial increase of complexity without the management's knowledge. It is known that excessive complexity may in fact  "drown" a business if it is unprepared. It is excessive complexity that is the ultimate source of risk. Therefore, it is mandatory to measure and manage complexity. The Lehman Brothers bank is an emblematic case. The bank did not know it was going to default. And yet, rating agencies gave it a very high rating - below is the rating reported from their website (relative to January 2008):

So why does a bank fail without early warning? The answer is hidden complexity. Complexity measures the amount of structured information. What this means in practice is that it quantifies how intricate and noisy the business is. Applied to accounting numbers, it directly measures how difficult it is to run the business. Variables are interconnected (not always in a nice and linear fashion) and the interconnections are fuzzy, not crisp. Now, what happens when complexity increases and the accountants (and managers) don't know about it? They keep on using the same models (often based on a bell-curve perspective) which prove less and less efficient. Their predictions will become less credible, it will be increasingly more difficult to reach goals and to make the numbers. If that were not enough, banks trade extremely sophisticated derivate-based financial tools which have tentacles reaching out to the most remote corners of the global economy. Often, the bank doesn't know how much it owes and how much others owe them. Entropy (uncertainty) is everywhere and no Black-Scholes model can get it right. The world is irrational and definitely not Gaussian. Our complexity metric captures all this in a clean and natural fashion as the method we use is model-free. There are no assumptions to make, no exotic models to build. We extract the hidden complexity measure that sits in the real numbers that reflect the actual business.

Of course, the increase in complexity does have real causes. Human behavior and habits for example - see here. The point, however,  is to provide corporations with an effective early-warning capability that really works. Our complexity-based system OntoSpace is a great way to start. We have used it (in a post-mortem fashion) on the sub-prime crisis, and, recently, on the Lehman Brothers bank case. The results are striking. As expected, complexity and entropy have been rising quickly over the period 2004-2007, as illustrated in the two Complexity & Risk Maps maps below:

2004 Complexity & Risk Map

 2007 Complexity & Risk Map

Over a period of 4 years, complexity more than doubles. Entropy nearly doubles, as the alert robustness drops from 82% to 72%. The evolution of complexity, entropy and robustness (state of health) are depicted below. The increase of entropy is dramatic. The system build up "hidden energy" which it must dump, sooner or later. Conventional tools are unable to predict such phenomena.

Evidently, contemporary risk models are inefficient in a turbulent economy. It is not a question of sophisticated mathematics, which inevitably adds unnecessary uncertainty to an already uncertain situation. It is a matter of changing tools and methodologies. Because hidden complexity is the manager's main enemy, complexity must be measured and managed. In the near future, risk management will become complexity management. No doubt.

Life's Most Difficult Question

Young King Arthur was ambushed and imprisoned by the monarch of a neighboring kingdom. The monarch could have killed him but was moved by Arthur's youth and ideals. So, the monarch offered him his freedom, as long as he could answer a very difficult question. Arthur would have a year to figure out the answer and, if after a year, he still had no answer, he would be put to death.

The question?....
What do women really want?
Such a question would perplex even the most knowledgeable man, and to young Arthur, it seemed an impossible query. But, since it was better than death, he accepted the monarch's proposition to have an answer by year's end.

He returned to his kingdom and began to poll everyone: the princess, the priests, the wise men and even the court jester. He spoke with everyone, but no one could give him a satisfactory answer.

Many people advised him to consult the old witch, for only she would have the answer.

But the price would be high; as the witch was famous throughout the kingdom for the exorbitant prices she charged.

The last day of the year arrived and Arthur had no choice but to talk to the witch. She agreed to answer the question, but he would have to agree to her price first.

The old witch wanted to marry Sir Lancelot, the most noble of the Knights of the Round Table and Arthur's closest friend!

Young Arthur was horrified. She was hunchbacked and hideous, had only one tooth, smelled like sewage, made obscene noises, etc. He had never encountered such a repugnant creature in all his life.

He refused to force his friend to marry her and endure such a terrible burden; but Lancelot, learning of the proposal, spoke with Arthur.

He said nothing was too big of a sacrifice compared to Arthur's life and the preservation of the Round Table.

Hence, a wedding was proclaimed and the witch answered Arthur's question thus:
What a woman really wants, she answered....is to be in charge of her own life.

Everyone in the kingdom instantly knew that the witch had uttered a great truth and that Arthur's life would be spared.

And so it was, the neighboring monarch granted Arthur his freedom and Lancelot and the witch had a wonderful wedding.

The honeymoon hour approached and Lancelot, steeling himself for a horrific experience, entered the bedroom. But, what a sight awaited him. The most beautiful woman he had ever seen lay before him on the bed. The astounded Lancelot asked what had happened

The beauty replied that since he had been so kind to her when she appeared as a witch, she would henceforth, be her horrible deformed self only half the time and the beautiful maiden the other half.

Which would he prefer? Beautiful during the day....or night?

Lancelot pondered the predicament. During the day, a beautiful woman to show off to his friends, but at night, in the privacy of his castle, an old witch? Or, would he prefer having a hideous witch during the day, but by night, a beautiful woman for him to enjoy wondrous intimate moments?

What would you do?

What Lancelot chose is below. but....make your choice before you scroll down below. Okay?

Noble Lancelot said that he would allow her to make the choice herself.

Upon hearing this, she announced that she would be beautiful all the time because he had respected her enough to let her be in charge of her own life.

A Visit Up To Genting Highlands

Genting Highlands is the Las Vegas of Malaysia. Located high up in the mountains where the temperature is much cooler than in downtown Kuala Lumpur, Genting is the place to go to gamble, have fun in the theme park and just to take in some fresh air.

Genting is only an hour's ride from Kuala Lumpur. You can get there either by bus, drive up in your car or take the cable car up.

Read more about it here.
